American Idol is Back- or Is It?

American Idol Season 10- For months I have been saying how it is the beginning of the end and I was dead on.  The show has been in decline since its peak of Season 4 (though 5 and 6 weren't bad- they just didn't have anyone who could hold Carrie's microphone) and last night is the official beginning of the nail in the coffin.  From bad singers to bad judges it was a mess.

With the departures of Ellen (useless,) Kara (just as useless), and Simon (the best) we are now left with Randy (ok), Steven Tyler (needs the money), and Jennifer Lopez (made me miss Paula if that was ever possible).  The one element of Idol that is the best is that during the auditions Simon and Randy (well mostly Simon) would rip on the horrible auditions.  Last night it seemed that Randy didn't want to do that anymore, which makes you wonder was it really him or was he trying to be like Simon (which no one can do).  Steve Tyler basically used who he used to be (great in the 1970's) as opposed to who he is now (sellout) to be a judge.  And JLO- how she still has a career after Gigli is beyond me.  It's funny how she had a problem saying no to people since she never had that problem when a man approached her.  Like I said she made me miss Paula- enough said.

And as usual Ryan is a tool.  The show has never needed him- he needs it more.  Why can't the producers acknowledge that and sack him?  I jokingly call him tool number 2 because the only person who is more of a tool (like Jimmy Fallon would say on SNL) is Carson Daily.

As for the singing on night one, two people stood out.  Robbie Rosen did an amazing audition with "Yesterday".  He also overcame adversity.  He spent time in a wheelchair when he was five years old, but overtime he overcame his condition and can walk again.  And then there was Victoria Huggins.  I found her annoying and wanting to throw something at my tv, but her audition of "Midnight Train to Georgia" was really good.  These two will be around for a while.

The rest of them were just horrible.  Tiffany Rios actually said JLO was her idol- apparently she has never seen Gigli.  Ashley Sullivan cried and cried until JLO said yes when it was obvious she was going to say no.  And the rest of the guys- well none of the stood out for me to even blog about.

Night two was just as bad.  In fact it got to the point I would only look up when someone was singing, not caring about their background at all.  Three stood out on this night. Jacee Badeaux, who looked like a fat Justin Bieber, was the best.  He sang "Dock of the Bay" and nailed it.  It's a shame it took 45 minutes for this to happen though.  Number 2 was Sarah Sellers who sang "To Make You Feel My Love" and nailed it as well.  Lastly was Bret Elliott who sang Bohemian Rhapsody".  While I was not that impressed with it (he sounded like he was going through puberty on national tv) the judges liked it enough for him to go through.

And of course we had ones that were just bad.  Jovany Barreto- sorry but this is American Idol not taking off your shirt Idol.  Alex Attardo- butchered my dad’s favorite groups (CCR) favorite song (Proud Mary).  Don't quit your day jobs guys.  And the rest like I said before we just unmemorable.

Overall nights one and two were a disappointment and it will probably be the beginning of what will be the worst season of idol since... well last season.
