A huge travesty has occured tonight in the UK my friends , yes I know there are far more important and horrifying things going on in the world that need to be addressed rather than a silly little talent competition on a Saturday night, but this page is not intended to be here to shout political statements, its supposed to be about fun and entertainment, but tonight was not fun.
Let me say this now and get it over with before I continue any further...people of Scotland, do you really, truly honestly in your heart of hearts think that the MacDonald Brothers are going to win this competition? Do you? Do yourselves a favour, don't vote for these lads purely because they are Scottish and you want to stick one to the English, do it because they have got talent, which, if you are being honest with yourselves, you know that they do not. Even Louis, their own mentor has admitted earlier this week that they are not going to win this competition, so please do everyone a favour and put this puppy out of its misery and stop trying to save them. Let us have a proper and fair competition where the true talent can battle it out to the end.
There, I've said it now and caused a stir, but to quote Eric Bischoff from the WWE "Controversy creates cash" (autobiography available from all good book stores...and some not so good bookstores). But I digress, the result of tonights show was so unjust, but here is the low down of the acts and theX FActor Gospel according to Babylamb:
Ray - Living La Vida Loca .
Well Ricky Martin he isn't, it seems quite perverse to see someone that only looks about 12 years old up there gyrating his hips in such a suggestive manner, but he did look like he was enjoying himself and he ceretainly is an entertainer but I have to agree with Simon, he is not the best singer, but he doea the best he can with what he's got.
Robert - You Are Not Alone .
As I said last week I am glad that Robert has gone back to basics and it just him, a microphone and his voice. He gets better each week and this was his best so far. He is better off without the cheesy dancing and the cheeky face pulling and just concentrating on the music. Simon agreed with me, or did I agree with Simon? I don't know.
Eton Road - I Don't Feel Like Dancing
What the hell was Louis thinking this week in picking this song? Eton Road do not have the voices anywhere near good enough to pull off this song, sung by someone with a truly unique voice. Eton Road are no Scissor Sisters! I think that Simon's face during the performance said it all. Louis is intent on sabotaging this acts chances of progressing further in this competition, week after week he picks bad songs which they are just no good enough to pull off. It seemed to me that they lost their way during the performance and they were fighting to keep it all together, they struggled to reach the notes and lost their pitch and harmonies. To me it was a mess, and again I agree with what Simon said. I feel that tonight was Eton Road's worst performance of the competition.
Leona - Bridge Over Troubled Water
Well Leona certainly had no trouble with this song. Another world class, quality performance. Its no wonder that the record producers in America are already very interested in this talented young lady. She nails it week after week. I think that she could be Britain's answer to Mariah Carey. Watch out Mariah, someone is after your crown.
Ben - With a Little Help From My Friends
Ben is no Joe Cocker, the performance to me was someone trying tobe an impersonator. I know that I am probably biased because there is something about Ben that I just don't get on with, I can't warm to him. I don't know why. But it doesn't matter what I think, its what the great British public think, and they love him so fair play and Good Luck to him.
The MacDonald Brothers - Love Is All Around
I may as well write down here what I have written here every single week before. Bland, boring, emotionless, and almost had me thinking suicidal thoughts they were so bad. When they perform they have no feeling or emotion to their songs or vocals, they just open their mouths and words come out, that's it. For Louis to say that they deserve to be in the competition because they are genuine guys was completely non sensical, what does being genuine have to do with it? They do not have any talent and that has everything to do with this competition. Louis is totally aware of how bad this act is which is why he cannot think of anything else to say about the boys that rings true.
The bickering goes on again this week between Simon and Louis with Louis having a dig at every opportunity about Simon being in the US all week and not mentoring his acts. So what? That's why Simon has a team of voice coaches and image consultants who work with the artists, he doesn;t have to be there, as long as he is kept up to speed with their progress and makes the right decisions then that's what counts. I think that Louis ought to spend more time picking good songs for his acts and teaching them how to project themselves when performing befoe he starts criticising anyone else.
And so we say 'Goodbye' to Robert, such a shame, your best performance this week and to have to go out to Eton Road after their dreadful performance. I think that really the bottom 2 this week should have been The MacDonald Brothers and Eton Road based purely on performance with Eton Road being saved, but, what can you do, people will vote for their favourite whether they deserve to be in the competition or not, that's what choice is all about.
Let's see what happens next week.
