” O’SENSEI “MORIHEI UESHIBA”

Aikido is the spirit of loving protection for all beings

” MAKE NO MISTAKE about it.Aikido is a devastating Martial
art,the full power which is rarely seen. Those who do not realize this
simply do not know Aikido. An Aikidoist who know this power will only
demonstrate their full abilities on another aikidoist who is full
trained to receive and survive it. When people first observe Aikido
they see the spectacular throws.they see the attackers fall and
roll, but are often skeptical as to the real affectiveness of Aikido
technique until they have actually felt and received an Aikido
technique. They then realize that the “cooperation” with which they saw
the attackers falling-”like it was rehearsed”-is absolutely necessary
to avoid serius injury. Those attackers are also demonstrating their
knowledge of Aikdo by blending with powerful technique and showing how
they they can survive it safely. The first time you feel Aikido
technique such as kotegaeshi or nikkyo, you are shocked and surprised by
its power and simple effectiveness.you learn immediately that it is
wise not to resist, but to respect it and move your body accordingly so
as to avoid injury. All movement in Aikido is circular.even if it
appears direct and linear there are subtle spiral motions
involved.Aikido technique are designed to follow the body’s natural
movement.Joint are turned and exaggerated along their natural range of
motion. This motivates the attacker to fall without damaging the
joint.Aikido pins are designed with the same idea in mind and can
applied to and by anyone of any size with little or no effort. Aikido
principles hold to a defensive mode rather than to an offensive one.One
tend to lose his or her balance and inner peace when aggression is
allowed to run the mind. The aikidoist learn to thrust natural instincts
and intuition and to act appropriately without sacrificing internal
equilibrium. This does not mean that we should lay down and passively
accept everything that comes our way;rather,we should respect it,keep a
goo heart, and redirect it with a strong flow of life-affirming energy.
This applies to life on and of the mat.You do not have to be
strong, big, fast,or,for the matter, athletic,to learn and become
accomplished at Aikido.A simple desire for peace is all that i
needed.use ure intuition.When you sense a threat,recognize it,accept
it,and respect its nature, the maintain your balance and control and
redirect it safely. It can be said that Aikido is a martial art for
people who desire true peace-the peace that comes from”the loving
protection of all beings.
